1. Environmental requirements are reshaping machine design
The EU's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has applied since August 12, 2026, but specific requirements have phased implementation dates—it should not be understood as all requirements taking effect on that single day. It drives reductions in packaging waste and improvements in circularity.
Combined with equipment manufacturers' progress, customers will increasingly focus on whether machines can reliably process new materials while maintaining seal quality and throughput. For vertical and flow-wrap machines, temperature, pressure, sealing time, and film-feed control are more convincing than simply claiming "compatible with eco-friendly films."
2. The focus of flexible production is reducing changeover downtime
Expanded bag-style capabilities, emphasis on unified operating methods, error reduction, and shorter changeover times all indicate that manufacturers are improving equipment around multi-specification production.
3. Whole-line coordination is becoming a key consideration in equipment investment
Customer demand for complete turnkey solutions is growing stronger. Business value should be grounded in process connectivity, reduced handling, and less manual intervention—and should clearly state the actual scope of supply and integration.
4. Shrink packaging is still evolving, but buyers will focus more on cost per package
Shrink packaging has not stopped developing because of environmental discussions. Its technical direction is more precise use of heat while improving package appearance. The conversation should gradually extend from "good shrink results" to finished-product consistency, film matching, reject rates, and operating costs.
5. AI is entering specific identification and quality control applications
AI is being used to identify products and match labels; Interpack officially also lists quality assurance and process control as practical AI application scenarios. For us, the more pragmatic entry points are verifiable functions such as missing-label detection, position detection, date-code inspection, and abnormal-product rejection. Only when the equipment actually has these capabilities should they be used as selling points.
